Sol LEWITT

"The idea becomes a machine that makes the art."

Sol LeWitt is an American artist known for being a participating in conceptual and minimalist art in the 1960s. His famous project Sculpture Series, composed of modular cubes, and his writings make him one of the best-known figures of contemporary art. LeWitt focuses especially on the geometric shape of the cube, seen as a perfect module for obtaining endless possibilities and multiple combinations of sculpture, structures, wall painting, drawing, installation, space. Sol LeWitt's work plays on the overlap between different types of media and on the impressions suscitated by colors and geometric shapes by drawing attention through visual balance.
