Maria Elena VIEIRA DA SILVA

Maria Helena Vieira da Silva is a Franco-Portuguese abstract painter who is part of the Seconde Ecole de Paris. Influenced by the work of impressionist Pierre Bonnard, she began to exhibit her abstract paintings, famous for their treatment of perspective and space. Vieira da Silva's paintings reveal her personality: secret, melancholy, cerebral. Still, the influence of cubism is pervasive in the artist's work, in this way of renewing the processes of figuration, with vanishing lines, chromatic games, and complex mosaics evoking a terraced urban landscape.
