Rebecca HORN

"It's the way we harbor emotions within us, opposing forces, it's this feeling of a perpetual flow of energy that keeps things moving."

A German artist born in 1944, Rebecca Horn works with many mediums but always explores the processes of emergence, metamorphosis, and alteration of the body. Inspired by the surrealists who feed her imagination, the artist tirelessly frames the oppositions that underlie our lives: body and machine, human and animal, desire and violence, harmony and disorder. The individual within her works is characterized by his physical fragility and his ability to reinvent himself. She thus strives toward a conception of humanity within a dynamic of extension and resonance with space and the world. Rebecca Horn demonstrates the power of art as a primordial expression of life and of self-awareness, beyond all limits.
