"Art is everywhere."

Ben Vautier, known mononymously as Ben, is an artist of the profoundly multicultural Fluxus movement. Ben deeply admires the work of Marcel Duchamp; he develops a very personal style in which the object is challenged by art. According to the principles of the Duchampian readymade, the artist declares the signature a work of art and signs everything, thus questioning the concept of ego, of the self, but also the idea of appropriation. The multifarious elements that make up Ben's works are regularly accompanied by texts, which, since the 1960s, have been the essence of his artistic approach. His singular, laboured script, his impertinent yet fair messages might be compared to Lettrism. Is everything art? Ben raises once more this question which has incessantly been asked of art, never ceasing to examine the world around him.
